NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks continued their non-conference home winning streak today at William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA won in dominant fashion, winning 115-58 over the Paul Quinn Tigers. The win improved the Lumberjacks overall record to 7-5 on the season.
Juhlawnei Stone won the opening tip-off and Nana Antwi-Boasiako wasted little time cashing in both his shots at the free throw line. The ‘Jacks started the game on an early 7-0 run. Scoring came easy for SFA through the bulk of the first half. Sadaidriene Hall’s dunk made it a 32-10 lead with 10:00 left on the clock in the first half.
Myles Jenkins and Chrishawn Christmas’ layups gave SFA a 56-20 lead with 2:37 left until halftime. At the end of twenty minutes SFA led 64-24.
Juhlawnei Stone finished the half shooting 10-10 and a season high 20 points. Sadaidriene Hall was the other Lumberjack to finish in double digits entering halftime. Hall posted 11 points on 3-for-4 shooting. The ‘Jacks forced 15 turnovers and posted nine steals.
Frank Staine and Myles Jenkins’ back-to-back three-pointers got the scoring started for SFA in the second half. After three minutes of play in the second half, SFA held a dominant 70-29 lead over the Tigers. With ten minutes left to play in the game the Lumberjacks led 86-42.
The Lumberjacks crossed the century mark with 4:32 left in the game as Kimahri Wilson’s layup made the score 100-50. DaeVeon Scott’s consecutive scores gave SFA a 108-54 lead over the Tigers with 2:11 left in the game. SFA finished out the game in dominant fashion as they won 115-58. It was the most points scored by the Lumberjacks since their 114-49 win over Arlington Baptist on December 2, 2019.
Sadaidreiene Hall and Juhlawnei Stone finished as co-Pilgrims Player of the Game. They shot a combined 21-for-22 from the field and posted 47 points. Frank Staine and Myles Jenkins also finished in double digits. Staine had 15 points and shot 3-for-4 from behind the arc. Jenkins finished with 14 points and posted three rebounds and three assists.
Sadaidriene Hall (25) and Juhlawnei Stone (22) posted season highs in scoring. DaeVeon Scott (6), Myles Jenkins (14), and Ethan Mayes (7) all posted career highs in scoring. SFA’s offense finished 40-for-69 (58.0%) from the field and 9-for-23 (39.1%) from behind the arc.
The Lumberjack defense forced 23 turnovers and added 15 steals to their season total. SFA held the Tigers to 36.7% shooting from the field. Sadaidriene Hall and Chrishawn Christmas led the ‘Jacks defensively with their six combined steals.
The Lumberjacks finish their non-conference schedule hosting the University of New Orleans. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. It will be the last non-conference game of the season for the Lumberjacks. SFA resumes Western Athletic Conference action on January 4 at UTRGV in a 12-noon game and return home on January 6 to host UT-Arlington in a 2 p.m. start.
