GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Island- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (4-2, 0-0) faced off against the Utah State Aggies (5-1, 0-0). SFA lost their second game of the season as they fell 79-49.
The Aggies started the game off hot as they went on an early 10-2 run. Sadaidriene Hall closed the gap with his three-point play as SFA pulled the game to a 15-11 deficit with 11:52 remaining in the half.
Halfway through the opening half Utah State held a 20-13 lead. Latrell Jossell found the bottom of the bucket as his three-point shot narrowed the ‘Jacks deficit to 30-22. After the first twenty minutes SFA trailed 32-26. Nana Antwi Boasiako was SFA’s leading scorer going into the half shooting 3-for-4 with eight points.
SFA struggled on both sides of the ball through most of the second half as the Aggies got their lead up to 20 (55-35) with 13:28 remaining. The Lumberjack’s woes continued through the rest of the second half as they only posted 23 points in the final 20 minutes. SFA was handed their second loss on the season as the final score was 79-49.Nana Antwi-Boasiako finished the night as SFA’s leading scorer with his 11 points. Nana also added two blocks and a steal to his resume. Sadaidriene Hall finished as the ‘Jacks second leading scorer as he posted nine points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field.
SFA finished second place at the Cayman Island Classic as they went 2-1 with wins over Loyola Marymount and Drake. The Lumberjacks will be back in action on November 29th at 6:30 p.m. SFA will be back in William R. Johnson Coliseum to square off against Tarleton State. It will be the ‘Jacks first conference game of the season.
