Obituary
Funeral services for Roger Lee Johnson, 77, of Lufkin will be Sunday at 3 PM, in the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Chapel in Alto officiated by Keith Jones. There will be a visitation from 2-3 PM Sunday at the funeral home before services begin. Interment will be at Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto.
Roger Lee Johnson was born in Hattieville, Arkansas on April 25th, 1947, to Mark C. and Virginia E. Johnson. He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and after graduating high school he attended OSU Institute of Technology. He then moved to the Dallas area to work for Collins Radio, which later became Rockwell International, and then Alcatel, from where he retired after 35 years.
Roger met his wife, Annell (also known as Candy), in 1977, and on November 16th, 1979, they committed to God and each other and were married in Dallas, Texas. Roger and Annell had children from previous marriages and from that day on they became a blended family and raised their children together. After retirement, Roger and Annell moved to Apple Springs, Texas, where they pursued their favorite pastimes of hunting and fishing together. They were active members of Centralia Church of Christ and they both taught bible classes for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Johnson. Roger is survived by many loved ones including his mother, Virginia E. Johnson, his wife, Annell Johnson, daughters and sons-in-law, Shelley and James Sparks, Paige and Tony Wade, and Lisa and Rick Hensley. Sons and daughters-in-laws, Bryan Blasingame and Kristy Burt, and Mike and Tammy Blasingame. Roger is also survived by a sister, Virginia Stronks, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Dana Johnson, and brother Dennis Johnson. Roger is survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Roger was a friend to many and loved by all.
