Robert “Bob” Arden Spears, III…
Robert Arden Spears, III was born on May 16, 1941, in Austin, Texas, the son of Robert Arden Spears, Jr. and Opal (Shelton) Spears. He passed from this life on May 8, 2025, in Nacogdoches, Texas. In eight days he would have reached 84 years of age.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, he graduated from William B. Travis High School and then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcus, Texas. In 2000 he moved to Nacogdoches where he remained.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Lance and his wife Julie and their three children, Ezekiel, Chloe and Blue, and B.J. and his wife Kim, all of Austin, Texas; a sister, Linda Hutto and her husband Doug of Florida; a number of first cousins, a longtime friend, Carol Weaver and one niece and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Opal Spears and one sister, Judi Bess Schuelke.
Bob loved to read and at a younger age he served as a lifeguard and actually saved a young boy’s life.
The family and friends will have a Memorial Service honoring Bob’s life at a later time. It will be held in Austin and will be posted on this website when the plans are complete.
