A string of first division ratings at the regional marching contest stretches back decades to 1980 for Nacogdoches High School. Which is also the year Jim Hagood took over as director of the band at NHS.
NISD is going to acknowledge the tradition of excellence initiated by Mr. Hagood. Please join the district at 5:30 p.m., Monday, May 11, in the new Professional Development Center located at 4632 NE Stallings Drive for this celebration of Mr. Hagood’s lasting legacy with Nacogdoches ISD.
Since Mr. Hagood came on board, the Golden Dragon Marching Band has compiled an enviable list of accomplishments, all while performing the military marching style that is synonymous with East Texas. Mr. Hagood’s successors as head band director – Glynn Wells and Jacob Weems (that’s right, Mr. Weems is only the third director in the last 46 years!) – have sustained the ongoing brilliance first established by Mr. Hagood.
