MONTREAL – Stephen F. Austin used a fierce defensive attack and raced past UNC Greensboro 75-58 in Northern Classic finale Sunday afternoon.
‘The Jacks forced the Spartans into 20 turnovers, which was promptly turned into 27 points.
Led by Roti Ware, four SFA student-athletes scored in double digits. Ware, a Morton, Mississippi native, dropped a team-high 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. Ware was also a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.
Nigel Hawkins added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Sadaidriene Hall scored 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field.
Nana Antwi-Boasiako helped out with 10 points and six boards.
The ‘Jacks won the battle in front of the basket and out-rebounded the Spartans 40 to 29 and also scored 28 points in the paint.
SFA shot the ball exceptionally well and converted 45.2 percent (28-for-62) of its attempts and went 7-for-12 from three-point range.
Lumberjacks return to the hardwood Thursday and play host to Northwestern State at 8:30 p.m.
