Obituary
A funeral service for Ms. Patricia Morgan, age 80, of Nacogdoches, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Kyle Lee and Bro. Larry Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pat was called to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday afternoon, February 19, 2025, in Nacogdoches following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Pat was born on March 22, 1944 in Abilene Texas to Iredell Ralph and Sidney Josephine Vick. Pat graduated Abilene High School on May 19, 1962 and was a member of the high school photography club and the First Baptist Church of Abilene.
After graduation, Pat married her former spouse Harry Morgan on June 9, 1962, and worked at the Timex Plant while Harry attended college in Abilene. After Harry’s graduation, they moved to Dallas where she worked for BellSouth as a switchboard operator. Pat and Harry later moved to Garland and welcomed their two sons, Russell “Russ” and Theodore “Ted” in 1967 and 1970, respectively.
While raising her two sons, she worked for the Safeway Milk Plant and served as a District Manager for the Dallas Times Herald. Pat was a devoted mother and very active in both of her son’s lives. Pat was the team mom for Russ’ little league baseball team and even coached Ted’s flag football team. She also helped Ted become the youngest Falconer in the state when he was 15 and volunteered for several years as the Texas Hawking Association’s secretary.
After her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Pat moved back to Abilene to care for her until her passing in 1994. During this time, Pat became an active member of the Abilene’s Alzheimer’s Association helping organize several fundraising events.
Later, Pat started a career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where she retired as a correctional officer in 2008.
Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Friends, the Golden Girls, and westerns. Pat was a sports fan and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.
Pat is survived by her children, Russell “Russ” Morgan and his wife Rebecca “Becky” of Bullard, TX. Theodore “Ted” Morgan and wife Carla of Nacogdoches, TX; two siblings, Betty Bowen and husband Jim of Rockwall TX and Bill Vick and wife Barbara of Abilene, TX and 5 grandchildren; Tracci Davis and husband Ryan, Amber Sackett, Holly Clayburn and husband Chad, Chelsea Culpepper and husband Cody and Colton Griffin. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Iredell Ralph and Sidney Josephine Vick, brother, Joe Vick and her dog Frosty aka Snowmobile.
