Offense has Big Day as ‘Jacks Take Game One Over Lamar, 9-2

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Jacks blew out the Lamar Cardinals today with a final score of 9-2. SFA improves to 22-25 while the Cardinals drop to 28-21.

SFA got the scoring started in the first after they loaded the bases with nobody out, and a Tom Biggs walk would score the first run of the game. Lamar did a good job of limiting damage, but SFA scored another on a double play. In the fourth, Lamar would get one back courtesy of an Ethan Ruiz home run. The Jacks would get that run back in the bottom of the fourth, as Clayton Loranger would rip an RBI single. The Lumberjacks poured it on in the fifth, scoring three in the inning on a Sam Adams two-RBI double and a Julian Thompson RBI single. Cal Martin tacked on two more in the eighth with an RBI single. Lamar would score a run in the top of the eighth, but Julian Thompson scored on a Cole Hill groundout to end the scoring. The Jacks would go on to win the series opener, 9-2.

Clayton Loranger had a massive day, going 4-5 with two runs and an RBI. Thompson, Adams, Martin, Alex Rogers, and Nolan Brown all picked up a hit.

The Lumberjacks are back in action tomorrow against Lamar at 1 p.m. They will look to replicate this offensive outburst against the solid Cardinals pitching staff.
