Obituary
Funeral service for Odell Renfro, 73, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Herrington officiating. Interment will follow at Lower Melrose Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12:30pm at Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Renfro passed away on Monday, March 31, 2024 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on August 1, 1951 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Odell was born the daughter of Virgil and Clarine Akridge. She grew up in Melrose and loved her community. She was a very active member of Melrose Baptist Church where she was committed to the Dove’s Nest, a non-profit resale shop for the church. She loved her Lord and Savior and spent many hours reading her bible.
Odell was married to her best friend, Tommy Renfro, for 53 wonderful years until his passing in 2020. Together, they spent their lives working hard to form a legacy they have left for their sons to continue. They owned and operated the Texaco Station on North Street, and later, purchased the property and began Renfro Glass, where it remains operating today.
Odell’s life was filled with great joy as she loved to play the piano, teach piano lessons and travel, especially to Pigeon Forge. However, her servant’s heart led her to the many things she did for others. She was always cooking and providing meals for different occasions and her pot roast, chicken fried steak, and lasagna was well known as some of the best.
Odell is survived by her sons, Tommy Renfro, Jr. & wife Tracy and Joey Renfro; grandchildren, Brandon Renfro & wife Kellie, Justin Renfro & wife Emily, Rachael Bowen & husband Cameron, Joseph Renfro, Abilgail Odell Renfro and Nathan Renfro; great grandchildren Knox Renfro, Brantley Renfro, Paisley Warren, Kailey Warren, Jace Bowen, Zoe Bowen, Lucas Renfro and Adalynn Renfro; sisters, Pat King and husband Floyd and Margaret Teets and brothers, Carl Akridge & wife Donna, Harlan Akridge & wife Terri, Virgil Lynn Akridge & wife Luci and Jim Akridge.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Renfro, son, Jonathan Renfro; siblings, Ruby Jenkins and Ricky Akridge and her parents, Virgil and Clarine Akridge.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Renfro, Brandon Renfro, Nathan Renfro, Bryan Renfro, Cameron Bowen and Michael Renfro.
