Obituary
Norman Elvis “Joe” Langham, age 87 of Nacogdoches, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, the 28th day of September 2022. Mr. Langham was born on the 26th day of May 1935, in Houston County, Texas, to parents Dovie Lawrence and JV Langham. Norman grew up in the Percilla, Grapeland area, where he attended Grapeland High School. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.
Norman moved to Nacogdoches during the 1970’s and began working for Johnson Furniture delivering furniture and appliances. He would continue working for the Johnson family for the next 40 plus years. When asked about Norman, Randy Johnson said, “Norman would do whatever was asked of him and NEVER complained.” He was truly loved and respected by the Johnson family.
Early on in his spare time, Norman could be found at the local roller-skating rink. He was an excellent skater. He also loved horses and dogs. Who could forget Peanut, his bay-colored quarter horse, and Precious, his spunky miniature pinscher who only followed Norman’s commands. He also had a knack for gardening. His home was filled with plants inside and out. Norman was friendly and outgoing as evident by the many pictures of family and friends that hung on the walls in his home.
Mr. Langham is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother John Dean, sister Ann Butts, and brother Larry Langham. He is survived by his son, Norman Wayne Langham of Crockett, brothers Wayne Langham of Crockett, Gene Langham of Houston, and Billy Langham of Pasadena, and many nieces and nephews.
The Langham family would like to extend a special thank you to the Johnson family and Cherry family for the love and support they gave to Norman over the years. The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Rock Haven Nursing Home and Westward Trails for their generosity and care of Norman during his final years.
A service will be held on Saturday, October 8, at 1:00 pm at Laird Funeral Home, 2116 South Street, Nacogdoches, Wayne Lacy officiating. Burial immediately following the service in Sunset Cemetery.
