NOEL COOPER ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR 420TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS – Nacogdoches attorney Noel Cooper announces his candidacy for District Judge of the 420th Judicial District Court.

Cooper has been a licensed Texas attorney for 27 years and practices law in Nacogdoches County and the surrounding East Texas communities. He has represented individuals and businesses across Texas.

“I am proud to call Nacogdoches my home, and I’m proud of the work I’ve done for East Texans, for their families and for their businesses,” Cooper said. “During my 27 years in private practice, I have represented clients in 420th Judicial District Court many times, so I’m well aware that Judge Ed Klein is leaving some very big shoes to fill.”

Cooper understands that the 420th Judicial District Court plays an important role in Nacogdoches and presents exceptional demands on its judge.

“This is a family court and a criminal court, and Nacogdoches deserves a judge with the appropriate experience,” he said. “The 420th Judicial District Court is a court of general jurisdiction, so the judge hears everything from Child Protective Services cases to felony criminal cases to divorce cases, and much more. My entire professional experience has been in the sort of cases that come before this court, and family law cases and criminal cases make up the bulk of my practice. I have the legal background and the courtroom experience necessary to continue the fair and efficient administration of justice, and I would be humbled by the opportunity to roll up my sleeves and serve.”

Through his years of serving clients, Cooper understands the unique challenges the 420th Judicial District Court is required to handle. He plans to draw on his extensive experience and explore innovative programs to address those issues.

“I am ready to get to work on day one,” Cooper said. “Funding is always an issue in smaller counties like Nacogdoches, but there are ways to increase transparency and reduce unnecessary expenses. I’m also very much in favor of establishing a drug court to reduce the addiction-fueled revolving door too often seen in the criminal justice system.”

The last day to register to vote in the March 5 primary is Feb. 5, 2024. Early voting is Feb. 20 through March 1.

Cooper lives in Nacogdoches with his wife, a professor at Stephen F. Austin State University, and their two children. His law office is located at 117 North Street, Suite 2, Nacogdoches, Texas.
