NISD held its convocation Friday morning in the main gym at Nacogdoches High School. Convocation serves as the official kickoff of the return to school for teachers and staff.
Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo was the keynote speaker. NISD staff heard from state Rep. Travis Clardy and Board of Trustees President Farshid Niroumand, himself a former teacher and coach in the district.
Door prizes were given away. Many of the gifts were donated by Nacogdoches area merchants.
The 2023 Convocation was presented by ServePro of Lufkin/S. Nacogdoches County, State Farm Insurance – Nikki Evans-Wallace, Spirit Outfitters and the law firm Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott LLP. Golden Dragon sponsors were Cadence Bank/Cadence Insurance and Excel ER. Bronze Dragon sponsors were Southside Bank and XETX Business Solutions.
Following the program, NISD teachers and staff enjoyed lunch prepared by State Farm Ted Smith, Charles Pool Real Estate, CBTx Bank, Cadence Bank, Southside Bank and Austin Bank. UBank provided beverages, dessert sponsors were CC’s Smokehouse and Nac Burger.
