NACOGDOCHES, Texas (July 8, 2026): The Nacogdoches Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a 12-year-old child that occurred on July 4, 2026, at Eastwood Terrace.
On July 4, officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim at Eastwood Terrace. Dispatch advised responding officers that Redarion Davis a 12-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Officers arrived on scene along with Nacogdoches EMS and found the juvenile suffering from a critical gunshot injury.
The victim was transported to a local medical facility before being airlifted to Texas Children’s Hospital, where he remained in critical condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, the child later succumbed to his injuries.
The University Police Department (UPD) and the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) assisted with securing the scene while investigators with the Nacogdoches Police Department Criminal Investigation Division (CID) processed evidence and conducted interviews.
During the investigation, Zamarion Douglas, 19, of Nacogdoches, was identified as the suspect. Davis was arrested and charged with Injury to a Child, a First-Degree Felony. Detectives determined that Davis discharged a firearm in the direction of the victim, causing the fatal injury.
The Nacogdoches Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
