Obituary
Graveside Services for Max A. Tallant, 87, will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lyles-Sanders Cemetery in Rusk County, with Clyde Gray of Springfield, Missouri, officiating and directed by Dickie Allen Funeral Home.
Mr. Tallant was born on August 9, 1937, at home in Malvern, Arkansas (Rolla Route #1), to Arthur B. And Flora Tallant.
After leaving home, he trained in Kent, Ohio for arboriculture school and worked for Davy Tree Company. He met his precious wife, Jeanette Davis Tallant in Houston, Texas, and they married on April 5, 1958. After their marriage, he worked for Borg-Warner; co-owned Lone Star Supply Co. in Austin, Texas; and then came to Tyler, Texas, in 1975, to work for WC Supply Co.
Max and “Jan” (Jeanette) embraced raising their two daughters, Chaundra and Lana. They enjoyed their small family and later welcomed two delightful granddaughters, Cheroka and Brittany. After the passing of his sweetheart in 2005, Max lived in the Cushing area and enjoyed his expanding family with the arrival of his great-grandchildren. He was a giving neighbor, friend, father, father-in-law, great-grandfather, uncle, and brother.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Flora and Arthur Tallant, siblings: Clyde Tallant, Azalee Tallant Duke, Denzel Jack Tallant, Geneva Tallant Allen, Marie Tallant Groody, and Faye Tallant Borland, nephew, Stanley Duke, and nephew-in-law, David Bost; his precious in-laws, Apton and Lovera Davis; brother-in-law Bobby Davis, sister-in-law, Janelle Davis Sitton.
He is survived by his cherished daughters, Chaundra Thomson and Lana Higginbotham, sons-in-law, John Thomson and Rick Higginbotham; treasured granddaughters, their spouses and great-grandchildren: Cheroka and Brent Roberts, Thaylin Roberts, and Henry Roberts of Hillsboro, Oregon; Brittany Davis, John Davis, Shelton Driggers, and Patrick Davis of Whitehouse. Also, Scott Thomson of Tyler and Laura Thomson of San Antonio; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including: Cynthia Tallant, Sharon Gray (Clyde) and family, Rick Allen (Deb) and family, Bobbie Allen Holiman (Tom) and family, Becky Borland Bost and family, Daniel Borland, David Borland and family, Steve Duke, Carol Davis (Kevin) and family, Sherri Davis (Christine) and family, Kathy Davis and family, Debra Poole (Johnny) and family, Susan Hiers (Daryl) and family; Brothers-in-law Major C. Davis (Caroline), and Jack Davis (Judy).

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Tad Titlow, Johnny and Judy Penney, the paramedics who transported Mr. Tallant by ambulance, the staff of Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler for the diligent efforts of the ER staff, as well as the caring nurses and doctors in the ICU through the early morning hours of January 5, when Max passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior.
