Lumberjacks Receiving Votes in 2024 AFCA FCS Coaches Football Poll

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks football team received 12 votes in the first 2024 AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl.

SFA is coming off a 77-0 season opening win over the Stallions of North American University. The ‘Jacks were led by junior quarterback Sam Vidlak’s 288 passing yards and five passing touchdowns as well as redshirt junior running back Qualan Jones’ 121 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Seven different Lumberjacks receivers also caught a touchdown pass in the win.

The defense also stood tall allowing only allowing 40 yards of total offense and dominating the Stallions holding them to -5 yards rushing. Junior linebacker Jaydon Southard led the defense with six total tackles. Redshirt Junior Victor Idusuyi and Freshman cornerback Donovan Lang also totaled 1.5 tackles for loss each.

The Lumberjacks travel to Denton, Texas on Saturday, September 7 to face the University of North Texas at DATCU Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 P.M.
