Lumberjacks Defeat Colonels in Final Road Game

The Stephen F. Austin soccer team (10-3-2, 7-2-0 SLC) finished off their road schedule at Nicholls (2-12-0, 0-9-0 SLC) on Sunday afternoon.

SFA once again put the offensive pressure on early in the first half. The Jayme BaileyMaddie Bowers connection struck first in the 25th minute as Bowers crossed the ball into Bailey who netted her eighth goal of the season. In the 39th minute the ‘Jacks had a throw in opportunity deep in the attack zone. Alex Bayouth threw it in deep into the box where Kamryn Jiles got a head on it which deflected the ball right to Ava Shannon who was able to get it into a wide-open net, 2-0. 

In the second half, both teams put on the offensive pressure with five shots recorded by each team, but only one went into the back of the net. In the 78th minute, Bayouth netted her fourth goal of the season off of a rebound from Lily Hargrove to secure the third and final goal of the match. The SFA defense stood tall and recorded their ninth shutout of the season.

SFA will be back at home for their final game of the regular season against Northwestern State on Friday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m.
