NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Head coach Kyle Keller and his staff continued with their high caliber spring signing class. Nacogdoches and Stephen F. Austin welcome 6’11” forward Thierno Sylla to the Lumberjack family. Sylla signed with the Lumberjacks after spending the last two seasons at the University of Central Florida.
Sylla is known as a lengthy scorer with range. He appeared in 32 games for UCF, accumulating 10 starts throughout the season. During his sophomore season, he had a career high 20 points against Jacksonville on December 6th. He also tallied 11 rebounds to go along with those 20 points. As a freshman, Sylla appeared in 27 games and shot 36.4% from 3.
Before his time at UCF, Sylla played at Royal Crown Academic School in Ontario, Canada. During his senior season, he was named defensive player of the year in his league, as well as a first team all-star award. Sylla was born in Conakry, Guinea.
“What a fantastic person we are getting in Thierno Sylla, said men’s head basketball coach Kyle Keller. “He is a terrific player, person, and student. He has a great passion for the game of basketball and life. Our community will embrace Thierno both on and off the court during his time in Nacogdoches. He will definitely bring a different element to our team with a 7’5 wingspan and his versatility. He can play inside or outside and truly stretch the floor with his 3-point shooting abilities.”
