A graveside service for Linda Sue (Montes) Rusk, 77, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery, officiated by Deacon Tony Weatherford. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home with a Rosary service being held at 11:00 am.

Linda was born on November 24, 1946, the daughter of Steven and Lorena Montes.  She has been a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in the Moral Community, where she grew up.  Linda began working at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital as a nurse assistant and by God’s own arrangement, she met a patient who stole her heart.  On January 31, 1967, Linda married the love of her life, Jerry Rusk.  Adding their son, Charles, to their family brought great happiness as they watched him grow into a kind and loving man with a family of his own.  Although Linda endured the sadness of saying goodbye to both Jerry and Charles in recent years, her love of family, especially her grandchildren, brought overwhelming joy to her life.  Her complete and loving devotion to all of them was astonishing and she was never happier than the times she spent being their “NeeNee”.

Linda possessed many talents, some of which included cooking and baking.  She did this often for others and took every opportunity she could to make special things for her grandchildren.  She was also a very talented artist and especially enjoyed drawing.  In her later years, Linda developed a knack for turning her creative passions into successful businesses, including floral designing and jewelry making.

Linda is survived by her grandchildren, Ashlee Ann Rusk-Gobel & husband, Thorsten, Savanna Nicole Ducotey & husband, Christian, and Dylan Thomas Rusk; great-grandchildren, Preston David Ducotey and Charlotte Rose Ducotey; daughter-in-law, Melissa Rusk; sister-in-law, Jane Chunn; and brother-in-law, John Rusk.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Michael Rusk; parents, Steven & Lorene Montes; son, Charles Lee Rusk; and sister, Sylvia Montes Shotwell.
