Katherine Parrish Whitbeck and Davy Thomas direct the Variety Show and Missy DeVine serves as the emcee welcoming Lamp-Lite Players and audience members back to our Lamp-Lite HOME for the Christmas Holidays.

The Variety Show will feature Veteran and New Lamp-Liters performing Christmas Readings, Songs, and Dances. In addition to the Lamp-Lite Players, the Rhythm Rocker Cloggers, under the direction of Donna J. Oliver, will perform as part of the show during every performance. On opening night, Lamp-Lite will experience for the first time the newly-formed Nacogdoches High School Dragon Step Team, under the direction of Jo Anna Shaffer. “We are excited that these dance groups are collaborating with Lamp-Lite at Christmas time to showcase their talent and art form in the Nacogdoches community,” stated Whitbeck.

Music and Readings for the evening include “The Christmas Song,” “The Night Before Christmas,” “Santa Baby, “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” “The Gift of the Magi,” “I’ll be Home for Christmas,” various children’s poems and letters, and a passage from the Book of Luke in The Bible. To remember Lamp-Lite Theatre Founder and Artistic/Managing Director Sarah McMullan, who passed away November 15, 2022, Pat Harris will recite “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost, the poem Sarah recited in her final performance at Lamp-Lite in 2020.

The audience will join the Players in a Sing-Along of Christmas carols and songs and join the rest of the Lamp-Lite family in enjoying hot chocolate and cookies provided by House Manager Judy Moore and her elves after the performances. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit after the Sunday performance.

Stone House Kitchen will provide one more gift for audience members.
