Kevon Harris Signs Contract with Orlando Magic

ORLANDO, Fla. – Former Stephen F. Austin men’s basketball standout Kevon Harris signed a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic.

“Congratulations to one of the all-time greats that have worn the SFA uniform,” said SFA head men’s basketball coach Kyle Keller. “Kevon has more than earned the opportunity to play in the NBA with the Orlando Magic. He has been very goal-driven from the first day he stepped on campus in Nacogdoches and we are all thrilled that his hard work, performance, and sacrifices have allowed him to accomplish his dreams. His development over his four years has impacted not only him, but our entire program to this day. I look forward to watching him score his first of many NBA baskets.”

Harris, 25, has spent time in the G League and overseas since then, playing for the Raptors 905 in the NBAGL and KK Zadar in Croatia.

Harris emerged as a full-time starter for Toronto’s G League affiliate in 2021-22, averaging 15.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 3.5 APG on .473/.343/.740 shooting in 24 regular season appearances (30.2 MPG). He played for the Timberwolves’ Summer League team in Las Vegas earlier this month and made a strong impression, putting up 15.8 PPG on .577/.458/.727 shooting in five games (27.1 MPG).

Harris was a four-year starter for the Lumberjacks and is the program’s all-time leader in scoring. As a senior, Harris was named the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year and first team All-Southland Conference. He finished fourth in the conference in scoring with 17.5 points per game and also averaged 5.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. As a junior, arris averaged 17.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals as a junior and was named second team All-Southland Conference. He surpassed the 1,000-point milestone during the season. As a sophomore, he averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists per game and was named second team All-Southland Conference.
