From being raised in a generation of outstanding values and morals, when a handshake and a man’s word stood for more than money itself and when everyone loved their neighbor enough to show up and help with anything they need, Juanita grew into a woman who was a matriarch of her family.  She was taught from her early childhood days to cook, help with her many siblings and do other things around the house.  She learned to garden, make things from absolutely nothing and take care of her family.  She was a daughter, sister and friend, but her most rewarding role came from being a wife and mama.   She and Rene’ Alcaniz met and married in 1961, and Juanita also became the mother she had always longed to be.  Her children brought her great joy, and her heart was overwhelmed with all the love she had to give to them.  She and Rene’ made sure to teach the same morals they were raised with.  She was so very proud of them and then….along came grandchildren.  If there ever was a reason to live a long life, it would be to have the chance to love those precious grandbabies that meant the world to her.  Juanita did just that…she loved….and the moments she had and the memories she made with those that meant so very much to her will forever be parts of their life that will never be forgotten.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Donna Franklin; son, Michael Alcaniz; grandchildren, Marie Hobson & husband, Jeremy, Carlyle Teel & wife, Lacy, Colton Alcaniz & wife, Morgan, Michael Alcaniz, III and Gage Alcaniz; great grandchildren, Christian Hobson, Wrenleigh Alcaniz, Everleigh Alcaniz, Zoie Teel, Mia Teel and Briley Teel; siblings, Nora Layton, Dora Dyess and Bobby Ross & wife, Becky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 52 years, Rene’ Alcaniz; son, Kenneth Alcaniz; parents, James Andrew and Ola Tidwell Ross and her siblings, James Ross, Bill Ross, Ben Ross, Jerry Ross, Charles Ross, Joy Everett, Evelyn Welch, Rozelle Hammet, Tommie Duke, Lorita George and Mattie Williams.
