Graveside service for Joyce Imogene Green, 81, of Lufkin, Texas, will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday October 20, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Park with Bro. Sonny Scarborough officiating.
Mrs. Joyce Imogene Green, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, in Lufkin, Texas. She was born on Tuesday, March 18, 1941, in Barboursville, West Virginia to parents Charles Eugene Davis and Myrtle (Long) Davis. After her high school graduation, she met James “Butch” Green and soon became one in marriage spending almost 50 years together until his passing on December 23, 2008.
During their marriage they were avid travelers since James worked the pipeline. They saw most of the United States together treating every new city as an untold adventure waiting to be explored. They enjoyed hunting and fishing together when James wasn’t busy at work and Joyce was known wherever she went for her excellent brisket. When they settled down, after years of traveling, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and taking in the beautiful East Texas scenery. The only place that she loved more than her retirement home in Texas was the land where she grew up, West Virginia.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Beaubee Greywolf; sisters, Nellie Dowborowski & spouse Ben, and Cora Perez & spouse Gary Smith; brother, Dewey Davis & spouse Lee. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, James “Butch” Green, Sr., and her sons Jeff Green and James Green, Jr.
