Obituary

Joann Myer Mobley of Nacogdoches passed away on August 1, 2023. She was 85 years old.

Joann was born on June 25, 1938 in Houston, TX. She was the only child of Lee Franklin and Esther Pearson Myer. Joann was raised in eastern Texas and Louisiana. She was a graduate of University High School in Baton Rouge, LA and Louisiana College in Pineville, LA.

Joann was an accomplished artist recognized for her oil paintings, including multiple selections into the River Roads Art Show, a national juried exhibition. She was a talented seamstress who also enjoyed knitting and crocheting with her knitting group. She played the piano from a young age and enjoyed singing in the First Baptist Church choir. She especially loved her cat Taylor and all things LSU.

She is survived by her husband Jim W. Mobley of Nacogdoches; daughters Cathy Tatom and husband DeWayne of Pineland, TX, Janet Roessler and husband Chris of Douglass, TX, Conya Hartman and husband Bill of DeLand, FL, and Kathee Mobley of Baton Rouge, LA; son Keith Besson and wife Leah of Rusk, TX; six grandchildren, Aimee Cameron, Jarrod Tatom, Joshua Stricklin, Ian Roessler, Merle Besson, and Jeb Besson; and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Joann will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North St, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.
