Jo Goldsberry Obituary

Jo Nan “Jojo” Goldsberry, 83 of Nacogdoches, passed on May 4, 2025 in Henderson, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30p.m. Friday May 9, 2025 at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, Texas with Bruiser Lee of Corner Post Cowboy Church officiating.  Burial will follow at Nat Cemetery.

Jojo was born into a large family in Nacogdoches, Texas on March 14, 1942 to Kennie Sanford Sr. and Dona Mae Truss Sanford.  She married the love of her life Billy Joe Goldsberry April 25, 1959 in Nat, Texas. They met while she worked at a drive-in diner as a carhop in Nacogdoches.  They built their own family in the community of Nat, living alongside her in-laws and family. Jo and Billy then continued their journey back to Nacogdoches later in life. Before retirement, on the farm in Caro, Jojo worked as a bookkeeper at Mize Department store for many years making lifelong friends along the way.  She loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nacogdoches before attending Corner Post Cowboy Church.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents Kennie Sanford Sr. and Dona Mae Sanford, her husband Billy Joe Goldsberry, sisters Jimmie Nell Whitehead, Kennie Mae Harvin, brothers Horace Sanford and Dub Sanford, mother-in-law Fay Bates Goldsberry, brother-in-law Jerry Goldsberry

She is survived by her daughters Donna Fay Goldsberry of Nacogdoches, Kathy Jo Goldsberry and Dwain Rawlinson of Nacogdoches, grandchildren Britta Jo Scripsick and Alan Mark Scripsick of Springtown and Jonathan Britton Bates of San Augustine, sister Mary Alice Klippel and Tom Klippel of Eagle River, Alaska, brothers Kennie Sanford Jr. and Kay Sanford of Spring, Beolan Sanford and Janet Sanford of McKinney, sister-in-law Carolyn Goldsberry of Cushing. Jojo is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Bates, Alan Scripsick, Dwain Rawlinson, Teddy Davis, Billy Keith Sitton and Jeremy Guy.  Honorary Pallbearers are Dwayne Goldsberry and James Lynn Adams.

In lieu of flowers the family asks to please donate to the Nat Cemetery or Nacogdoches Treatment Center.
