Obituary
Jill Davis Goad was born October 8, 1964 in Lufkin, Texas to Wayne C. and Barbara (Costlow) Davis. She passed away August 11, 2024 in Nacogdoches at Medical Center Hospital from complications of emergency exploratory surgery.
Jill was raised in the Bald Hill/Homer communities. She graduated from Lufkin High School in 1983. From there she went to Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida for two years. While there, she was in the chorus and Split Image musical groups and got to travel to many states promoting the college. She made many lifelong friends while there. After returning home to Lufkin, she went to SFA University. While worshiping at Mound and Star (now Stallings Drive) Church of Christ, she met her one and only Wendell Ray Goad. They married in May of 1988. After graduation, she taught 2 years at Brookhollow Elementary School in Lufkin. She left the teaching world and together they adopted 7 children–Misty, Sarah, Tara, Will, Timothy, Jessica and Kimberly.
She is survived by her husband, Wendell Goad of Chireno, and children, Julliauna, of the home, Jessica Faulkner and husband Mason, Misty, Sarah, Timothy, Will, & Kimberly Goad; brothers-in-law, Tommy Goad and wife Regina, and Mark and wife Kay Goad; her mother, Barbara Davis; brothers, Ricky, Mike and his wife Kay, Matt and wife Tonya; her cousin who was like a sister-Joy Hammack Jones and husband Dan; special aunt and uncle, Joyce and Robert McDonald. She is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.
She is predeceased by her father, Wayne Davis; father & mother-in-law, Grady & Fannie Goad (whom she loved very much); grandmother, Mildred (Mima) Davis; grandparent, Weldon (Gan) & Idell (Nanny) Costlow; cousin, Autumn Davis Homer.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 15, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors with visitation preceding services from 9:30 – 11:00 am. Interment will be in Sowell Cemetery in San Augustine County. Officiating will be Kyle Campbell, Jim McDonald and Bruce Davis leading the congregational singing.
