Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Moore, 89, of Alto will be Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Weeping Mary Baptist Church near Alto with Rev. Lionel Whitaker and Rev. Vertis Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore passed away Saturday, September 12th, 2026 in Alto, TX. She was born November 9th, 1936 in Alto, TX to Earnest Freeney and Roxanne Simpson. She has lived most of her life in Alto and was a member of the Weeping Mary Baptist Church, where she served as President of the Missions Committee for many years. Mis Jessie retired from Lufkin State School after many years and had also served as an evangelist. Her joy in life was serving others and leading them to Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years J.B. Moore, mother Roxanne Simpson, father Earnest Freeney, sister Kalanda Humphrey, brother Vernon Freeney, grandson Kobe, great grandson Kason, sons-in-law Matthew Hackney, Donny Hogg Sr. and Sherman Mitchell. She is survived by daughters Gloria A. Hackney, Mary A. Hogg, Janie Ward, Jessie Faye Moore Mitchell, Janette Moore and Angela Moore, sons Eddie Moore and Jessie Bernard Moore, 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. There will be a visitation Friday, September 18th, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Alto, TX.
