NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas – The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office has charged three Indiana men after they were found in possession of illegal drugs during a traffic stop. NCSO deputies were patrolling the 3000-block of S.W. Stallings Drive Friday morning when they noticed a 2022 black Chevrolet Equinox traveling well above the posted 45 mph speed limit for the construction zone. The vehicle, occupied by Dejuan Dawayne Walker, 23, Samuel Xavier Griffin, 20, and Van Jerome
Griffin, 24, all of Indianapolis, Ind., was pulled over and deputies issued Walker, who was driving, a warning for the traffic offense. During the stop, deputies smelled marijuana in the vehicle, and Walker told them he’d smoked prior to getting in the vehicle. A vape pen containing THC was found in Walker’s pocket.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 16 oxycodone pills, 16.2 lbs. of liquid promethazine medication mixed with codeine, and 1 lb. of promethazine medication which was not mixed with codeine. A firearm and marijuana were also located. All three men were taken into custody and charged with first and second-degree felonies for possession
of a controlled substance. Walker was additionally charged with the unlawful carrying of a weapon, which is a Class A misdemeanor.
