Health Inspection Report Week of 5/11/2025

The Inspection Services Department carries out the general health & safety inspections of occupancies requiring a health permit within the jurisdiction of the City of Nacogdoches. The primary function of the Health Inspector is the interpretation, inspection and field compliance efforts of the technical codes and laws. These codes and laws are Federal, State and Local. In addition the Health Inspector with support from the Inspection Services Department carries out the responsibility of data entry, account billing and record keeping.

Weekly Health Inspection Report: Restaurants, Food Trucks, and Facilities Logged Mixed Results

NACOGDOCHES — The latest round of health inspections brought a wide range of results across local restaurants, food trucks, and community facilities. The inspector conducted all inspections, issuing demerits for issues ranging from damaged ceiling tiles to improper food storage, while several establishments earned near‑perfect or fully compliant scores.

Dollar Tree – North Stallings Drive

118 North Stallings Drive 1 demerit

Inspectors noted one water‑damaged ceiling tile, the only issue reported at this location.

McDonald’s – University Drive

3120 North University Drive 3 demerits

Violations included improper storage of a chemical spray bottle, which was corrected during the inspection.

Sombrero’s Coastal Tex‑Mes and Cantina

3000 North Street 6 demerits

Issues ranged from missing hair restraints to improper food storage and sanitation concerns. Several items were corrected immediately.

Nijaya Japanese Restaurant

3205 North University, Suite A 10 demerits

This location received one of the higher demerit totals of the week. Problems included missing thermometers, lack of paper towels at a handwash sink, and sanitation issues around coolers and freezers.

Super S

1718 East Main 15 demerits

Super S recorded the highest number of violations this cycle. Issues included improper storage of drinks, damaged flooring and ceiling tiles, missing bathroom supplies, and cleanliness concerns throughout the store.

1204 North Mound 2 demerits

Minor issues were noted, including a damaged wall area and the disposal of a spatula.

O’ Geez Food Truck

4635 NE Stallings Drive 4 demerits

All violations—such as a missing freezer thermometer and items left in the handwash sink—were corrected on site. The commissary and required paperwork were fully compliant.

Oma’s Wursthaus Food Truck

Nac Snack Friday Event 0 demerits

This food truck earned a perfect score. All logs, receipts, and commissary requirements were up to date.

“100 PERCENT COMPLIANT”

Avila’s Venezuelan Food Truck

Soccer Fields 2 demerits

The only noted issue was the need for visible thermometers in cooling units. All paperwork and commissary operations were compliant.

Kids Unlimited

513 Russell Boulevard 2 demerits

Violations included water spillage in a hallway and ant beds on the playground. The report notes that the property is regularly serviced by professional pest control.
