The Inspection Services Department carries out the general health & safety inspections of occupancies requiring a health permit within the jurisdiction of the City of Nacogdoches. The primary function of the Health Inspector is the interpretation, inspection and field compliance efforts of the technical codes and laws. These codes and laws are Federal, State and Local. In addition the Health Inspector with support from the Inspection Services Department carries out the responsibility of data entry, account billing and record keeping.

Health Inspections Show Minor Violations at Several Nacogdoches Food Locations

acogdoches, Texas – February 27, 2026 – The latest weekly health inspection report released by local authorities covers routine checks conducted at multiple food-service establishments in Nacogdoches during the week of February 23–27, 2026. All inspections were performed by Inspector “Ke” and resulted in very low demerit scores, with every violation corrected on-site.

No facilities received high enough demerits to trigger follow-up inspections or closures. The report highlights the city’s ongoing commitment to food safety through regular oversight of convenience stores, travel centers, and mobile food operations.

    • Discarded sliced ham that was out of date or improperly stored
    • Use-by dates added to sliced products
    • Thermometers installed and made visible in coolers and freezers
    • Bases of all coolers and freezers cleaned; fans and utensils wiped down

  • Violations corrected on-site:
    • Handwash sink kept empty and accessible
    • Accurate, visible thermometers placed in all refrigerators and freezers
    • Commissary paperwork, logbooks, and receipts confirmed current and compliant

Nacogdoches health officials noted that all four locations demonstrated strong overall compliance. Scores below 10 demerits are considered excellent for food-service operations in the area.
