Health Inspection Report Week of 12/12/2025

The Inspection Services Department carries out the general health & safety inspections of occupancies requiring a health permit within the jurisdiction of the City of Nacogdoches. The primary function of the Health Inspector is the interpretation, inspection and field compliance efforts of the technical codes and laws. These codes and laws are Federal, State and Local. In addition the Health Inspector with support from the Inspection Services Department carries out the responsibility of data entry, account billing and record keeping.

Recent Health Inspections in Nacogdoches Show Strong Compliance with Minor Violations Corrected On-Site

Nacogdoches, TX – December 11, 2025 – The latest health inspection reports from the City of Nacogdoches Environmental Health Department reveal that local food establishments and one lodging facility are maintaining high standards of sanitation and food safety. Most violations were minor and corrected immediately during the inspections.

Several businesses received perfect scores with zero demerits:

  • Snow Fruit #566 inside Kroger, 3205 North University Drive – 0 demerits, 100% compliant
  • Dilly Dally, 2156 North Church – 0 demerits, 100% compliant
  • Pemberley Jones House Restaurant at the Church, 141 North Church – 0 demerits, 100% compliant

Other establishments had low demerit counts, with issues quickly addressed:

  • Snow Fox Sushi inside Kroger Food Store, 1215 North Street – 2 demerits Violation: Paper towels needed at handwash sink – corrected on site
  • Snow Fruit #990 inside Kroger, 1215 North Street – 4 demerits Violations: Keep handwash sink access path unimpeded (corrected on site), accurate thermometer needed for one cooler area
  • Roma’s Italian Kitchen, 124 East Main – 2 demerits Violations: Keep handwash sink access unimpeded, keep straws out of handwash sink – corrected on site
  • Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, 3720 North Street – 2 demerits Violation: Paper towel dispenser needs new battery – corrected on site
  • University Coffee, 2611 North Street – 2 demerits Violation: Use-by date needed on sliced ham – corrected on site
  • First United Methodist Pre School, 201 East Hospital Street – 1 demerit Violation: One vent needs to be cleaned – corrected on site
  • Arbor Assisted Living Center Food Service, 3002 Westward Drive – 2 demerits Violations: Several damaged floor areas, clean vent at office door
  • Continental Inn and Suites Lodging, 278 North Street – 1 demerit Violation: Label spray bottle with blue solution – corrected on site

Two establishments received slightly higher demerit counts but demonstrated prompt corrective action:

  • Papi’s Tex Mex and Cantina, 422 East Main – 8 demerits Violations:
    1. Need test strips
    2. Dressing needs use-by date
    3. Paper towels needed at one handwash sink (corrected on site)
    4. Keep scoops stored properly (corrected on site)
  • Stone House Kitchen, 312 East Main – 7 demerits Violations:
    1. Discarded two meat products and several milk products – corrected on site
    2. Provide accurate thermometers for all refrigerators and freezers
    3. Keep handwash sink access path unimpeded (corrected on site)
    4. Keep base of refrigerators and freezers wiped down, clean and sanitary, keep all vents clean
