Floyd Hern Jopling, of Garrison, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Garrison, TX, to Andrew Franklin Jopling and Minnie Ola Ritnour.
Floyd graduated from Garrison High School in 1953. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1959.
Floyd began his working life at the age of 12 at the theater owned by Red and Bonnie Garrison. What began as a young boy’s job popping popcorn grew into a skill; he took great pride in, as he learned to operate the theater projectors. He continued working at the theater throughout his high school years.
After graduating from SFA, Floyd began his career with Lindsey and Newsom as claims adjuster. He remained with the company until his retirement.
Floyd was a longtime member of Perritte Memorial Methodist Church and was also a member of Garrison Masonic Lodge #670. His faith, family, friendships, and service to his community were important parts of his life.
Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wonda Jopling, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage; his son, Wiley Jopling; his parents, Andrew Franklin Jopling and Minnie Ola Ritnour; and his siblings.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie and Mark Cook of Lufkin; grandchildren Kyle and Tina Hensley, Klint Hensley, Blake and April Cook, and Will and Hannah Cook, all of Lufkin; and great-grandchildren Kole, Lucas and Tucker Hensley, Jay and Jet Miller, and Gentry and Cami Cook, all of Lufkin, TX.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Malcolm and Martha Harvey, and Cynthia and Ron Luman, as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Floyd will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his quiet strength, his years of service to his community, and the many lives he touched throughout his long and meaningful life. His memory will live on through his daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
