It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Floyd Oliver Rambin Jr. “Buddy”, who departed this life on February 2nd, 2025, at the age of 71.

Floyd O. Rambin Jr. “Buddy” was born on October 27th, 1953, in Nacogdoches, Tx, and was a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, nephew, and friend. “Buddy” was known for his, generosity and care-free approach to life.

After graduating from Mount Enterprise High School in 1972 he married Donna Elaine Reeves Rambin at Arlam Baptist Church March 30th, 1973. He wore many hats and worked in multiple fields supporting his wife and children. “Buddy” owned a gas station, was a bulldozer operator, ran a propane truck, worked at Eastman chemical plant, labored in the oil field, welded, contracted installing poultry equipment, grew broiler chickens for Pilgrims, was night watchman in Garrison, built motorhomes at Foretravel, spent some time as a prison guard, for a time he dabbled in uranium exploration as a mud logger and later a wireline operator in Wyoming.

He was ever faithful to his wife and supported her business endeavors just as she supported him. He helped with refrigeration repair in her grocery business, helped her set up a beauty parlor, he renovated and equipped a trailer for an “old time photography” business, Buddy even learned to use an antique camera that was at one time used to make photographs for Tom Mix.

Buddy delighted in his 3 grandchildren. In his later years he helped his son establish a small herd of cattle. He took immense pleasure in working it with his son, grandsons, wife and daughter-in-law. He assisted with it until the day he died. He was as eclectic in his interests as he was multifaceted in his skills. He exemplified the adage “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one.” He was fond of his old cub tractor and kept it running sometimes. Floyd O. Rambin Jr. was known by many names by many people. Buddy, Bud, BR549, Highball, Scrooch, Wild Thing, Nutty Buddy, Poppy, Pop, Dad. He will be remembered most often and fondly as Daddy by his son.

Floyd O. Rambin Jr. “Buddy” is survived by his wife Donna Elaine Reeves Rambin, daughter Shawn Lynnette Rambin, son-in-law Mark Gipson, son Floyd O. Rambin III “Bubba”, daughter-in-law Tracy Corley Rambin, grandsons Eli Michael Rambin and Owen Wayne Rambin, sisters Patsy Ann Hays and Linda Nix, brother-in-law Donald Hays, brother Ricky Lynn Rambin, sisters-in-law Marla Jo Rambin and Ramona Reeves, aunt Margarit Greening, uncles Mayburn Greening and Homer Greening, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends.
