Mrs. Lyons passed away on June 25th, 2023, in Garrison, Texas.

Faye was born on August 9, 1928, the daughter of Joseph Solomon and Umae Broussard Morgan.  She grew up in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1945.  Upon graduating, she went to work at Curry’s Grocery Store where she met a young man, recently home from WWII, Martin Wyndell Lyons.  After insisting their first date should be to church, she quickly won his heart.  They married on May 5, 1946 and spent 44 beautiful years together until his passing in 1990.  Faye was a faithful helper to Martin as he pastored several churches in the Mid County area as they raised their six children.  Faye was very involved in her children’s lives and school activities.  They each knew she was always there to listen, comfort and guide them through any difficulty.  She nurtured each one’s talents and interests, but most of all, she taught the love of God and prayed over her children.  The family moved to Nacogdoches in 1967 to serve at Memorial Baptist Church.  Faye, always interested in sewing, began work at Hancock Fabrics where the ladies sought her advice on patterns and fabric choices.  She had great experience, having made her three daughter’s clothes through their high school years.

After moving to Center, Tx, she worked for Elliott Waldren until retirement.  She also became actively involved in First Baptist Church by serving as the Ladies Sunday School teacher, choir member and with the Senior Adult Group.  In 2009, Faye moved back to Nacogdoches and joined Calvary Baptist Church where she was active in the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Joyful Sound Senior Choir.  She had spent the last six years at Garrison Nursing Facility where she continued to share her love for her Lord as well as the love she had for others.  Wherever she served, Faye was a faithful Sunday School teacher to children, choir member, ladies’ leader and Vacation Bible School worker.  Her heart was for others to know The Lord Jesus as their personal savior and to tell “The Story” of Jesus and His love, which she did until the day Jesus called her home.
