Nacogdoches Tx (April 26, 2025) – At approximately 12:43 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, the Nacogdoches 911 center received calls of a major accident in the 4000 block of E Main St (Hwy 21 East). The accident involved a pickup truck and a box truck.
Officers determined that a Chevrolet pickup driven by Dakoda Bennefield, 27, of Nacogdoches was eastbound on East Main St with Nancy Michelle Bennefield, 54, as a passenger. An Isuzu box truck was westbound, driven by Chaz Jones, 28, of Lufkin. The two vehicles collided head on in the roadway and preliminary evidence indicates that the Isuzu swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid a collision with a stopped vehicle. Dakoda was found deceased upon first responders’ arrival and Nancy was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital where she later passed away due to her injuries. Jones was also transported to Memorial Hospital for severe injuries and later transferred to a Tyler hospital for further treatment. The investigation is still ongoing and NPD Officers are conducting follow up investigations to determine any and all circumstances related to the accident. —
