I hope you are doing well. The city hosted an open house on May 12th to provide information about capital improvements, many of which are in various stages of implementation. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2026 and the city council will appoint members at the council meeting in July. Thank you so much for your willingness to share your time and talents!
Also, mark your calendars for the Blueberry Festival and the country’s birthday celebrations in Nacogdoches. The Blueberry Bluegrass Concert in the Park is Friday June 12th, with the festival on June 13th. Please see https://www.visitnacogdoches.org/texas-blueberry-festival. On July 4th, the Federation of Women’s Clubs will be hosting a celebration of the story of the United States flag and the writing of the “Star-Spangled Banner” at 10 a.m. at the Old University Building 515 N. Mound Street followed by a ringing of the bells 250 times, commemorating the 250 birthday of The Declaration of Independence. And don’t forget the fireworks in the evening at Festival Park.
