Charlene Ewell Ebner was called to her heavenly home Thursday, December 28, 2023. She was born into a loving and Christian home to Charles Howard Ewell and Verdie Pauline Ewell July 18, 1941. She grew up in Big D, (Dallas Texas) at a time when the city was booming. She and her family rarely missed Sunday service at East Grand Baptist Church.

They also attended her brother Bobby’s athletic activities. When she was 12, her brothers football team won state, which was celebrated by the entire family.

Charlene attended the newly built Bryan Adams High School and was with the inaugural graduating of 1959. A cherished memory involved being a BA Belle which was the school’s drill team where she loved performing at the football games.

After graduation she attended East Texas Baptist College for one semester, deciding that Commerce Texas was too far from her Momma and Daddy.

She married and soon started a family that included two children; Robin and Greg. While this marriage did not last, her faith that God works all things for good to those who love him was evident in her life. Though being a single mother while entering the job market, she did so gracefully with much prayer that her eternal Father heard, to which he provided protection and direction.

During this time, Charlene joined in fellowship with Casa View Baptist Church where here mom, Pauline attended. There she met John “Johny” Ebner and as many say, they were “a match fit for heaven.”

Charlene and Johny were married December 22, 1982. Their love and affection for each other grew and continued for 34 precious years until his death in 2017.  They were longtime members at Denton Bible Church where they both served regularly as greeters. The “Ebner House” in Aubrey Texas was also home to a small Bible study group that met for well over a decade. This group made up of both close friends and prayer warriors, studied God’s word.

Over the years, Charlene contributed her skills to various jobs with Arthur Andersen, Lennox, and the Canadian Consulate. However, her last job at the corporate office of Mary Kay Cosmetics proved to be a true blessing. She thrived in the close-knit family atmosphere and cherished the enduring friendships made during her nearly two decades there. She worked in their publications department as a graphic designer and typesetter.

Charlene loved the Lord and was often heard praying up and down the halls at the Arbor Assisted Living for those around her during the last years. She loved to read but Scripture was her favorite, often reading a verse and then proclaiming, “Isn’t that beautiful!” This genuine spirit came from her relationship with Christ and living by God’s word. Her greatest accomplishment was accepting the free gift that Jesus Christ gave, becoming a child of God through faith. Through her life and even death, Charlene desired to glorify God and be found faithfully serving her King Jesus.

Charlene is survived by her loving brother Bobby Ewell and wife Darlene; her daughter Robin Rigsby and her husband Charlie; her son Greg Patterson and his wife Cindy; her stepson Gary Ebner and his wife Carol. She also leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Pauline Ewell, husband Johny Ebner, and stepdaughter Sally Kincaid.
