Carl Edward Terry Obituary – Provided by Laird Funeral Home

MARCH 24, 1964 – JUNE 9, 2026

In the Care of Laird Funeral Home

Carl Edward Terry [62] has overcome his fight with cancer to be made whole in the care of Jesus.  The last several years of Carl’s life were dotted with challenges, a heart attack, two shoulder surgeries and finally a battle with cancer.  In between these challenges Carl enjoyed beach sunsets with sand between his toes and warm salty air from the breeze of the waves, rocky Jeep trails in the hills and mountains of Arkansas, family motorcycle rides with his wife and daughter and the solitary rides where it was just him and God.  He was born in Nacogdoches on March 24, 1964, to Edward and Louise Terry.  He graduated from Woden High School in 1982, four years later in 1986 he began working for Cooper/Eaton Corporation where he was employed until his death.  Carl was a valued employee who worked in several different departments and made friends along the way.

Carl was a regular member of Lufkin First Church where he had many friends and was baptized by Pastor Joe Stanley.  The prayers, support and encouragement received from this family of friends were very important and dear to his heart.  He often expressed how genuinely they loved him from our first visit and each time afterwards.  He was thankful for each and every one that often reached out to check in on him and remind him that they were continuously praying on his behalf.  This same support was given to him from friends Stacy & Cindy Davenport, Charles Montes, David Horn, Buddy Sitton and  too many others to list.

He leaves behind the “love of his life”, Stacey Terry, whom he married in 2019.  That marriage included a large family that welcomed him and his children with a love that he had never experienced.

His children Danielle Lyles, Carl W. Terry, Kayleigh Terry (Jace), his stepson Dylan Tyree (Destony) and his grandchildren Archer, Kyle, Oliver, Ellie and coming in September, Axel are left behind to remember his love, affection, support and encouragement.  To Axel, Big Poppa loves you more than you will know and would have done anything to be here to rock you, love you and introduce you to Captain Jack Sparrow just like he did with your mom.

Carl also leaves behind his father Edward Terry, his brother Michael Terry, his nephews Justin Covington (Terea) and Derrick Terry.  Others that are left to remember him are his great niece Charlotte Covington, a very special aunt, Linda Carr and other family members.  He was preceded in death by his mother Louise Adams Terry and his little brother Ricky Terry.

Family and friends are welcome to attend his visitation from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Lufkin First Church.  His funeral will be held at Lufkin First Church at 2:00pm on Friday, June 12, 2026.  He will be laid to rest in Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas at 4:00pm and anyone is welcome to join the family for a burial immediately after the funeral.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, aides, therapists and support staff at CHI St. Lukes Lufkin, MD Anderson, UT of Tyler Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and especially Harbor Hospice.  To Sunny, Conchetta, Veronica, Brittany and Alex a special appreciation for their advice and support through this last journey.

Carl handpicked the following men to carry him to his final destination on this earth.  Pallbearers will be Stacy Davenport, David Horn, Charles Montes, Michael Terry, Justin Covington and Derrick Terry. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Swearengin, Dylan Tyree, and Clint Smith.
