August 15, 1953 – April 27, 2025
Brenda B. Evans was born in Bryan, Texas on August 15, 1953, to Milton Byer and Gladys (Schaefer) Byer. She passed away on April 27, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, having attained the age of 71 years.
Brenda graduated and went on to attend the Blinn Business College in Bryan. She then worked as a secretary at Texas A & M for a couple of years before settling into her life work as a homemaker. She cooked, she cleaned, and did all the normal activities, but then she enjoyed all kinds of crafting including quilting. She enjoyed reading, watching television, traveling, but most of all she loved “cruising”….every year her question to her husband was, “Where are we going to Cruise this year?” Her passport was very important to her!
Brenda and Ross were united in marriage in June of 1977—47+ years, and he survives her. Also surviving are her daughter, Tara Evans of Webster, her son, Derek Evans and his wife Becky of Sacramento, CA, along with 3 grandchildren, Annika, Penelope and Natalie; her mother, Gladys Byer and one brother, Charles Byer and his wife Carol all of New York State, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Milton Byer.
Brenda and Ross moved to Nacogdoches in the summer of 2016 and are members of the Redeemer Lutheran Church here in Nacogdoches. Previously she had been an active member of the Lutheran Women Missionary League (LWML) at Peace Lutheran Church in Texas City and had served as president for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nacogdoches. A short visitation will be held prior to service time starting at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
