Obituary

Billy Ray Bailey, Sr., 82, of Nacogdoches passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, in Nacogdoches. He was born November 25, 1939 in Shelby County, Texas to parents Harvey and Odie (Grace) Bailey.

Billy was a graduate of Timpson High School Class of 1959. He had a wide range of careers, starting out as a police officer in Center, Texas, followed by working as a welder. He later worked farming watermelons, then as a trucker, before founding Bailey Bark Materials in 1983 and Pine Valley Raceway in 2004. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, drag racing, and mud bogging. He also liked to socialize and watch Westerns and Fox News.

Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Martha Roselene Bailey; brothers, Pete Bailey, Biba Bailey, Millard Bailey, and Jimmy Bailey; and two great-grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Sharmion Bailey; siblings, Dora Gene Livingston and Hoyt Bailey and wife Del; children, Billy Ray Bailey and wife Lori, Jeff Bailey and wife Carolyn, Brad Bailey and wife Melinda, Shane Bailey and wife Relissa, Freddy Grant and Jolene Pearce, Bailee Lowery and husband Clarke, and Bianca Bailey; grandchildren, Brandy Bailey, Kyle Bailey, Travis Bailey, McKenzy Brewer, Brandon Bailey, Destiny Bogue, Derika Bailey, Jesse Bailey, Dylan Bailey, Shayna Tucker, Kodie Bailey, and Kortni Bailey; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf officiated by Dr. Jerry Jones. The services will be live streamed through Cason Monk- Metcalf’s Facebook page. Billy will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Bailey, Dylan Bailey, Jesse Bailey, Kyle Bailey, Travis Bailey, and Kodie Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy’s deer lease buddies at Penn Creek and his lake friends and family.
