Betty was a very loving and caring person, who was always ready to help others in a time of need. She enjoyed helping and doing nice things for people. Many times, when there was a death or neighbor sick, she was always ready to cook and carry them food. She was devoted Christian who loved God and her family. She spent time each morning for a person devotion with God by reading her Bible and praying. She cherished her Bible and spent lots of time reading it. During sleepless nights, she spent many hours praying for her family. Her life was a great example of how much she loved God and her family.

When she was 12 years old, she was baptized and saved at the Gloryland Pentecostal Church.

In 2014, she moved back to Nacogdoches to be near her family and especially her grandbabies. She became an active member of Eastside United Pentecostal Church where Bro. Ennis Fuller is pastor.

She loved to sing and enjoyed southern gospel concerts. She loved to read, cook and travel. Several years ago, during the time that her mother was very sick and in the nursing home, she decided to write a book about her memories of growing up in the country. She had heard it said that each family should have someone to write a book about their immediate family. So she wrote the book titled, “The Horse and Buggy Days.” Her purpose was to leave as many memories as possible to her family, especially the grandchildren. She loved her family with all her heart, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they loved her. They really loved to come and visit her, knowing she would always have a good home cooked meal. She loved every minute she was in the kitchen cooking all their favorite foods. She tried to always be there for them when they needed her. She instilled the love of God in each of them. She encouraged them to pray and always know that God loved them and would be there to help them in time of need and trouble. Many times, they would call her and ask her to pray for certain things in their lives and she did. They saw the prayers answered when Grandma Betty prayed. She saw to it that each one of them had a Bible to read and she encouraged them to read and live by it.
