March 21, 1936 ~ February 21, 2023

86 Years Old

Graveside service for Ann Morton, 86, of Etoile, will be at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas.

Ann was born on March 21, 1936, the daughter of Zomar and Estelle Romain.  As a young girl, she and the family relocated to Pasadena, Texas where they ultimately were raised.  Shortly after graduating from Pasadena High School, Ann began her career as a legal secretary for a successful law firm in Houston.  During her time there, she was introduced to James Morton, beginning their courtship and the love story that followed.  James worked for The City of Houston and when they were both retirement age, they left their jobs and came back to their roots in deep East Texas.  They spent their days traveling to wherever they found to go.  Many trips to Canton and Branson, simply to get lemonade or take the grandchildren to a show.  They loved being in the rural parts of where they knew they belonged.  When they were not traveling and taking in the views of the world around them.  They were proud parents of two sons and were honored to be called “Nanny and Pappaw” by their precious grandchildren.   In 2006, after a devastating diagnosis of brain cancer, they lost their son, Kenneth.  In 2018, after 62 years of marriage and many wonderful memories made, Ann had to say goodbye to her husband and best friend.  This was a huge loss for her and within 2 months she was diagnosed with dementia.  The following years were spent alongside her son, Ron as he cared for her until her last days.

Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved all her grandchildren and wanted nothing less than them to be around for her to see.  She will be missed by all who knew her and her memory will forever be of the hardworking, devoted and loving woman.

Ann is survived by her son, Ron Morton and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Joshua Morton, Brooke Smith and husband, Jim, Brandon Morton and wife, Lauren and Kayla Luker;  great grandchildren, Journey, Chloe, Vanessa, Honor, Tensley, Haven and Peysley.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Morton; son, Kenneth Morton; parents, Zomar and Estelle Romain; and brother, Monty Romain.
