It’s all 1s again for Nacogdoches High School’s Golden Dragon Marching Band.
The varsity symphonic band directed by Jacob Weems received straight 1s on stage and in sight-reading during the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading contest held April 5-6 in Whitehouse. Those scores, when added to the 1st division rating from last fall’s marching contest, means the high school band again earned the sweepstakes award.
There were more 1st to come. The non-varsity concert band from NHS, directed by Crispin Bradsher, also earned all 1s on stage and in sight-reading.
A week earlier, the McMichael Middle School varsity band collected the Sweepstakes award with all 1s on stage and in sight-reading during the middle school contest held in Carthage. The McMichael varsity band is directed by Crystal Bradsher. The non-varsity McMichael band directed by Cheyenne Cooper received an “Excellent” rating for on stage performance and straight 1s for sight-reading.
