Ina Carolyn Blankenship, 86, passed away on August 20, 2026. She was born September 30, 1939, in Nacogdoches, Texas, and spent her life making a difference in the community she loved and, most importantly, in the lives of her family and friends.

Carolyn dedicated many years to serving her community in a variety of ways. She was a member of the Pilot Club, served on the Fire Department Rehab Team, served on the board of Crimestoppers, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was someone who believed in giving back and was always willing to lend her time and support to the people and organizations around her.

Carolyn spent much of her professional life serving the citizens of Nacogdoches. She retired after a long and rewarding career with the City of Nacogdoches. She later continued working at the Nacogdoches Central Appraisal District, where she retired in 2022.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Carolyn was a member of First Christian Church in Nacogdoches, where she worshiped and shared fellowship with others. She also enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center, where she loved socializing and visiting with friends.

Above all, Carolyn cherished her family. She loved spending time with those she loved and took great pride in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. Her warmth, kindness, sense of community, and love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Dorothy Sitton, and her brother, Bubba Sitton.

She is survived by her sons, David Weems and wife Deborah and Scott Weems and wife Angie; her grandsons, Justin Weems, Jacob Weems and wife Lisa, and JT Weems and wife Morgan; her granddaughter, Abby Pangarakis and husband John; and her great-grandchildren, Mara Weems, Steele Weems, Banks Weems, Raylan Weems, Stetson Weems, JJ Pangarakis, and Attlie Pangarakis.
