SEATTLE, Wash- The Seattle University Redhawks defeated the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The SFA Lumberjacks came into this match against Seattle looking to snap a two-game losing skid and avenge a loss against Seattle from last season. However, Seattle had other plans as they claimed their third home win of the season by defeating SFA 2-0. Seattle did all their scoring in the first half. In the third minute of the game, Caroline Penner staked Seattle to an early 1-0 lead on a pass from Daniella Smathers. 20 minutes later, Penner struck again in the 22nd minute as she scored her second goal of the game for Seattle to give the Redhawks a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.
Lydia Sattler made another eight saves and played the entire 90 minutes in goal for SFA. Sattler has recorded an impressive 18 saves between her last two games played in net. Jayme Bailey and Mariona Garcia Dalmases both recorded shots for SFA, while Bailey also added a shot on goal but was unable to find the back of the net in this one. Ella Morgan, Kyra Guhl, Mariona Garcia Dalmases, Jayme Bailey, Avery Brandt, and Morgan Donohue all played the full 90 minutes for SFA. The Lumberjacks return home to the Chopping Block to begin a two-game home conference stint starting on Thursday, October 5th at 8:00 p.m. when they get set to do battle with the Utah Tech Trailblazers.
