On Saturday, November 14, 2026, Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc., in partnership with Nacogdoches Historic Sites, will present the Living History of Oak Grove Cemetery Tour. This treasured local event gives guests an opportunity to meet the individuals who helped shape Nacogdoches.

Guided tours will lead guests through the cemetery, where reenactors will portray historical figures and share their stories through first-person interpretation. Along the way, attendees can admire the aged gravestones, towering magnolia trees, and beauty of one of the oldest cemeteries in Texas.
Established in 1837, Oak Grove Cemetery is recognized by the Texas Historical Commission as a Historic Texas Cemetery. It is the final resting place of signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence, veterans of the Texas Revolution and other conflicts, and numerous individuals whose lives helped shape Nacogdoches and East Texas.
Tickets for the Living History of Oak Grove Cemetery Tour will be available for purchase at the event for $10 per person, with children ages 10 and under admitted free. Tours begin at 10 a.m. and depart every 20 minutes, with the final tour beginning at 12:40 p.m. Proceeds from the tour benefit Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. and support the organization’s ongoing efforts to preserve and share the history of Nacogdoches.
