CBTx Announces Promotion of Scott Bowyer to President


The Board of Directors of Commercial Bank of Texas, NA, announce the promotion of Scott Bowyer to President, effective October 1st, 2026. Rusty Rust, who has served a dual role as Chief Executive Officer and President since 2013, will continue serving as CEO. Bowyer will lead the day-to-day banking operations, lending, internal performance and execution of strategy. He will report to Rust. Rust will focus on corporate governance, strategic planning, board development, and shareholder relations. The two will work together to continue CBTx’s vision to be the premier community-focused financial services organization in the markets served.

The promotion is part of CBTx’s long-term succession plan and reflects the bank’s commitment to leadership continuity, organizational stability, and community banking excellence. Bowyer began his career at CBTx in 1994 during his freshman year at Stephen F. Austin State University as a part-time bookkeeper/ATM teller and rose to serve in numerous leadership roles, including Commercial Lender, Retail Banking Manager, Market President, Chief Lending Officer, and Executive Vice President. He has served in Senior Management since 2013. His knowledge, experience and leadership have been instrumental in the bank’s growth while maintaining its commitment to local communities and relationship banking.
