Funeral service for Jennie Marie Weaver, 91, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Weaver passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 in Lufkin. She was born on September 28, 1934 in Zavalla.
A lady in every respect is exactly what Jennie Marie Weaver was. She was born and raised in East Texas and spent her life dedicated to her family. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend but one of her most loved roles was that of “Mamaw”. Jennie took great pride in all the little things with the grandchildren and each of them held a special place in her heart. From shelling peas to tea parties, Easter egg hunts to making quilts, her days were filled with the joy of each moment she had with her children and grandchildren.
Jennie was a life-long resident of the Shady Grove community, beginning when she was only 4 years old. Working on the family farm taught her good work ethics and a sense of being that she passed to her children and then to her grandchildren. She worked at home and several other places to help support her family and always made sure they knew she was there for them. After the loss of her best friend and husband, William Thomas “Bill Tom” Weaver, she found peace in knowing her days would be filled with the love of those around her. She enjoyed the simple things such as watching her birds and her little racoon that would occasionally visit her feeders. She took every chance to travel and visit her children and grandchildren, made quilts for each of the grands and always looked forward to Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter when they were all together and was sure to enjoy the wonderful meal she provided.
Jennie was a dedicated member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she taught VBS and Sunday school classes for many years. Her love of Christ, dedication to her family, strong morals and a life well lived will continue to be a guiding light to all those she leaves behind.
Jennie is survived by her children, Danny Weaver & wife Teresa, Sammy Weaver & wife Lynn, Mike Weaver & wife Peggy and Ella “Punkin” Battle & husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Cody Weaver & wife Deana, Jessica Barrett & husband Josh, Josh Weaver & wife Camille, Wesley Weaver & wife Molly, Emily Pope & husband Justin, Michael Jared Weaver & wife Selena and Hannah Renee Lopez & husband Adrian; great grandchildren, Brook Callahan & husband Josh, Danielle Cunningham & husband Seth, Jude Barrett, Noa Weaver, Cana Weaver, Charlotte Weaver, Lizzie Weaver, Lucas Pope, Nolan Pope, Xander Weaver and Ever Weaver; great great-grandchildren, Mavis Callahan, Coraliee Smith and Halsey Cunningham; sister-in-law Sarah Cox and brother-in-law Jean Callahan. She was also delighted to know she had another great grandchild on the way.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bill Tom Weaver; son, Tommy Weaver; parents, Willie David & Ossie Flaye Bellamy Cox; siblings, Gertie Reid & Sid, Billy Cox, Raymond Cox, Henry Cox & Geraline, Robert Cox, David Cox & Hazel, Howard Cox, Jerry Cox and Elaine Callahan.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Weaver, Josh Weaver, Wesley Weaver, Jared Weaver, Justin Pope, Josh Barrett, Adrian Lopez, Seth Cunningham and Josh Callahan.
