A graveside service for Colton Lindley Cupps, 21, of Chireno, will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Upper Melrose Cemetery. Colton passed away on June 24, 2026, in Tyler. He was born on May 5, 2005, in Nacogdoches.

Colton was raised in Chireno. He graduated from Chireno High School in 2023, which was a very important accomplishment to him. Colton was a special person who loved everyone he ever met. He was involved in Special Olympics while in high school and won several medals. Colton loved his teachers but disliked going to school. During breaks, he sometimes could be brought to tears by the very mention of going back.

Colton was a huge fan of Disney movies. He could tell you every Disney movie and when it was made. Colton enjoyed eating, his favorites were spaghetti and chicken and dumplings. He was caught several times sneaking in the kitchen and raiding some corndogs. Colton had a love of the outdoors and could spend hours in the water swimming and playing. With Colton, what you saw was what you got. He never met a stranger and loved to ask all the pretty ladies to marry him. Colton was a very special young man that will be missed by all who knew him.

Colton is survived by his sister, Kelly Smithhart and husband, Randy of Chireno; nieces and nephews, Madyson Langston and husband, Will of Mixon, Alexis Smithhart, Payden Smithhart, and Kaden Smithhart of Chireno; great nieces, Hallie and Avery Langston; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lindley and Patti Cupps; and his grandfather, Howard Smithhart.
