Viveca (Lofton) Wetzel Obituary – Provided by Laird Funeral Home

FEBRUARY 24, 1949 – MAY 27, 2026

In the Care of Laird Funeral Home

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of Viveca (Vikie) Lynn Wetzel-a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and servant of God whose kindness and adventurous spirit touched countless lives.

Born on February 24, 1949, in San Bernardino, California, to Fletcher and Margaret Lofton, Vikie spent her childhood in Battle Mountain, Nevada, and later lived in Crescent Valley, Nevada, Sedona, Arizona and Kodiak, Alaska. These early experiences fostered in her a lifelong love of travel, adventure, and meeting new people.

In 1967, Vikie married Alan Jordan. Together they welcomed their daughter, Leslie Louise (Jordan) Langley, born in 1969 in Millington, Tennessee. During their marriage, Vikie’s travels took her to Iwakuni, Japan, while Alan served in the United States Navy. Though their marriage ended in 1973,  the experiences and memories of those years became an important chapter in her life’s story.

Vikie’s journey led her through many places she called home, including Pahrump and Las Vegas, Nevada; Denver, Colorado; and Dallas, Texas just to name a few. It was in Dallas that she met the love of her life, Wim Wetzel. Prior to that, she had experienced a serious health crisis that left doctors uncertain of her recovery. During that time in Texas, Vikie leaned heavily on her faith, prayer and trust in God. What many believed she might not overcome became a powerful testament to her strength, determination, and unwavering belief that God hears and answers prayers thus bringing Wim into her life. They married on June 20th of 2012, devoted partners throughout their marriage until her passing..

Together Vikie and Wim built a marriage filled with love, laughter, friendship and adventure. They shared a passion for exploring the world around them in their motorhome, with Alaska and Florida among their favorites. They made many lifelong friends along the way.

A woman of unwavering faith, Vikie devoted herself to serving both God and her community. She was deeply involved in her church and community serving to help feed the homeless in Texas. She also dedicated countless hours to dog rescue, helping provide care, comfort, and loving homes to animals in need.  Vikie was never truly alone as she was always surrounded by the companionship of her animals she loved so dearly throughout her life whether it be dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, goats, chickens or ducks. As an avid dog lover, she especially enjoyed training her dogs and participating in dog agility.

Later, Vikie and Wim moved to Washington to be closer to family before ultimately settling in Flippin, Arkansas. Along the way, they formed countless cherished friendships that spanned the country. Where ever Vikie went, she left behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and lifelong friendships.

Those who knew Vikie will remember her beautiful smile, her adventurous heart, her steadfast faith. She lived life to the fullest even in the most difficult times, when her health challenged her, she refused to let those struggles define her.

Vikie was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Margaret Lofton, and her brothers, Steve Lofton and Donald Lofton..

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Wim Wetzel; Sister Karen Redd; Daughter Leslie Louise Langley: her beloved grandsons Kallen Christopher Langley and Tanner Jordan Langley; and many extended family members.

While our hearts mourn her passing, we rejoice in the countless memories she leaves behind and in the knowledge that her faith carried her home.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
