Jamie (Smith) Tomlinson Obituary

SEPTEMBER 25, 1965 – May 20, 2026

In the Care of Laird Funeral Home

Jamie Tomlinson, a vibrant and beloved soul, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the age of 60. Her family has chosen to honor her life with a celebration, rather than mourning her passing, as a testament to the beautiful and fulfilling life she lived.

Born on September 25, 1965, in Princeton, Texas, Jamie grew up in a close-knit family. She proudly graduated from Princeton High School in 1984. Two years later, on June 14, 1986, she married the love of her life, Bruce Tomlinson. Together, they built a strong and loving family, rooted in faith, love, laughter, and mutual support, spanning nearly four decades of marriage.

Jamie was a cherished member of her community. She began her career in September 1995 at Walmart Store #206 on Redbud Blvd in McKinney. Over the course of her impressive three-decade tenure, she took on various roles and responsibilities, becoming a true cornerstone of the store. Her colleagues admired her reliability, adaptability, and her sharp, relatable sense of humor, which she used to navigate the long workdays with grace and ease.

Above all else, Jamie was a devoted family woman who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her cherished grandson, Easton. She was always there to support her family’s milestones, from cheering on the local Melissa Cardinals to traveling to Fort Benning to witness her nephew Daniel’s Army graduation. Whether they were painting pottery, enjoying a night of delicious food and dancing, or simply spending quality time together, she was the heart of every gathering.

Jamie had a special passion for family vacations and was known to live her “best life” on the water. She recently celebrated her 60th birthday surrounded by her family on a beautiful Caribbean cruise.

Jamie is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Tomlinson; her loving daughter, Leslie Tomlinson, and fiancé Kory Roberts; her cherished grandson, Easton Hass and future granddaughter Khloe Roberts of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and her loving son, Damon Tomlinson, and fiancée Aimee Tilby of Melissa, Texas. She is also survived by her beloved sisters: Joanna McCain and husband David of Leonard, Texas; Shelly Smith of Austin, Texas; and Tammy Griffin and husband JD of Sherman, Texas, as well as a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is reunited in passing with her parents, Linda and Cletice Smith; her mother-in-law, Peggy Tomlinson; her father-in-law, Harold W. Tomlinson; and many aunts and uncles.

Jamie leaves behind a legacy of immense warmth and a lifetime of cherished memories.

A Celebration of Life honoring Jamie will be held on June 6th at 2 pm at Hillcrest Christian Church, 509 S Graves St, McKinney, TX. The family invites all who knew her to join them in sharing stories, laughter, and love, exactly as Jamie would have wanted.
